Autumn Leaves

Thoughts drifting like autumn leaves, While my mind flails, trying to stay afloat. Crying out for it to cease, Wondering how long it must persist. Fighting to stop it from grabbing hold And dragging me under. Too much at once. Too much to take in. Mind couldn't keep up. I break. The thoughts swiftly consuming me, Taking my sanity beyond my grasp. I tried to subdue it, Using everything I have been taught. But the methods don't work once you snap. I tried too late. I was too far gone already. The pills couldn't silence everything— All they did was make me sleep.
